12 great panoramic views of Tokyo

Posted by: brb In: Places| Travel ()

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a Quicktime VR panorama may be worth ten times more. (Depending on your equipment, it may take up to 10 images or more to stitch a panoramic picture.) So for you out there who long to visit Tokyo but have neither time nor money to do so, these panoramic pictures should substitute for the real thing.

And if you’d like to explore a bit more, you could pay a visit to 360 Cities Tokyo page and Shizuya Hiruharu’s excellent Guruguru 360 page (where most of 360 Cities’ panoramas come from). These are clickable maps of Tokyo showing the locations of the panoramas. I highly recommend viewing the panoramas full screen on Guruguru’s page (something not possible from 360 Cities’ page [edit: it's possible now]).

Thanks for the comment Shane. The panoramas in this page are really too small; I hope you visited the Guruguru 360 page for the full-screen panoramas. Those are really nice. :)

Those are pretty cool. Not quite the real thing, but pretty close. I have been in Tokyo Dome several times, and that is a pretty good representation for what it feels like.

I haven’t been to Tokyo Dome and I probably won’t go anytime soon after having seen it on Quicktime VR! It’s the first time I’ve noticed this but I wonder how the Saigo statue panorama was shot. The camera seems to float in the air.
