12 glittering photos of winter lights in Japan

Posted by: brb In: Photos| Travel ()

With the coming cold months and longer nights in Japan, colorful lights begin to illuminate countless parks, shopping malls and train stations around the country, providing romantic backgrounds for lovers and urging shoppers and commuters that now is the season to spend your well-earned money to buy gifts for your loved ones.

For avid photographers and casual shooters, this is also the season to take out those high-ISO cameras and shoot among the lights because while the days are short, those brightly lit illuminations may give you colors you otherwise won’t see when the sun is out. I hope these glittering shots of lights may inspire you.

Please explore the photostreams of these talented flickr photographers if you liked the photos.

CP, won’t happen anytime soon. Christmas in Japan is a only a commercial gimmick by stores to sell stuff. The lights are beautiful though, makes you want to spend more.

Sorry, the third from the last one is in New York. It’s right across from Rockefeller center, and I think the building is Saks. I took a picture exactly like that one last night, which is how I recognized it. ;-P

Thanks for the correction Kate. :)

I’ve just replaced it with an even better photo of a virtual flower light farm.

Great photos. “Light Flower Farm” is especially beautiful. I think the only one you are missing is Millionario, which is held in Tokyo every December.
