Cardboard mannequin robot aims for the “world’s weakest” title

Posted by: brb In: Robots ()

The recently held International Next Generation Robot Fair in Osaka saw the introduction of the Cardboard Mannequin Robot, a collaboration between robot development venture Eager and packaging design company Joto.

The robot, which is mainly constructed of cardboard, was developed with the slogan “world’s weakest robot” in mind. It is the kind of robot that a country with advanced cardboard working techniques like Japan could envision and create.

With programmable motion, the robot can be useful as apparel mannequin or entertainment prop. The graceful movement and female features remind me of Maria of Metropolis, a 1927 futuristic, black-and-white silent film by Fritz Lang.
