Tokyo Auto Salon 2009: Mazda Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid

Posted by: brb In: Tokyo Auto Salon 2009| cars ()

Perhaps a little out of place among the multitude of customized racing cars at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2009 is Mazda’s Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid. This is the latest iteration of the dual-fuel rotary-engined Premacy announced by Mazda over a year ago. This version of the Premacy promises better fuel efficiency, greater range and more responsiveness, not to mention slicker styling.

Rumors suggest that this hydrogen-fueled hybrid will be released to the Japanese market later this year.

I have been keen on hydrogen-fueled hybrids over the past couple of years. Hydrogen cars, in opinion, are the best of the crop in the world of hybrids. This one looks great.

This one looks promising although Mazda took a long time to release it. It looks like a pretty nice car, even without the hybrid engine. Time will tell if it will favorably compare with Toyota’s and other makers’ hybrids.
