Galaxy Express 999 train debuts in Tokyo

Posted by: brb In: Manga & Anime ()

A train decorated with characters from the famous manga and anime series Galaxy Express 999 was unveiled today in Tokyo. The manga-themed train is a collaboration between Reiji Matsumoto, creator of the series and designer of the train, and Seibu Railway Company and will ply various branches of the Seibu Line in Tokyo for 4 years.

The creators hope that children will rediscover the charm of riding the railway through this colorfully designed train. The train body is painted deep blue to mimic the sky and is decorated with various characters from the sci-fi manga like Tetsuro, hero of story, and Maetel, with her gently-flowing golden hair, and also a blue-colored Earth.

Speaking of manga-themed transport, Pink Tentacle has a nice collection of Decorated trains in Japan; and Bouncing Red Ball has 20 photos of ANA’s cute Pokemon jets that you might want to see.
