18-meter Mobile Suit Gundam rises in Tokyo

Gundam is alive! Or, at least, he’s already standing unsupported. {Photo by Mainichi}

As reported earlier, this giant 35-ton, 18-meter badass Gundam is set to be unveiled in Odaiba, Tokyo on July 11 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Gundam Moblie Suit robot franchise. It will be open to the public (for free) until August 31.

All you robot fans should travel to Odaiba and pay your respects.

Giant Mobile Suit Gundam in Tokyo: videos

As you can see especially on the second video (by StudioGIW), this is a very well made Gundam, down to the smallest details; even the small markings on its body are finely rendered. Gundam fans should be ecstatic.
