Kitty-chan is possibly the cutest robot, if you can call her that, in Robo Japan. A good companion robot for people living alone or the elderly. She can say a few simple greetings, she can sing, tell your daily fortune, sing and talk. Price is a steep 450,000 yen (or about $4,470).
Kitty-chan, the epitome of [...]
I just came back from Robo Japan, which is held in Minato Mirai, near Yokohama. The first batch of pictures from the exhibit is the i-SOBOT, winner of Japan’s Good Design award and billed by the company as Guiness-certified “world’s smallest humanoid robot in production”. (The Japanese brochure actually says, translated, “the world’s smallest bipedal [...]
Robots, robots, robots. Robots of every size and shape. The Robo Japan 2008 exhibition will open its doors tomorrow in Pacifico Yokohama. I hope I can get decent pictures.

The giant model RX-78-2 Gundam, front and back. From the Niigata booth, of all places.
Of course, when Gundam is near, the Zaku has to be around.

Nissan’s booth at CEATEC 2008 with the latest model Nissan March (Micra in other countries)
Nissan has one of the most interesting booths in CEATEC where they introduced their biomimetic car robot BR23C. This robotic micro-car is a the product of the joint research between the company and the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology [...]
In one of the medium-sized booths in CEATEC, I found this lovable mechanical wonder. Pleo is a little dinosaur that can move and interact with his surroundings through an extensive network of sensors around his body.
Inside Pleo’s colorful coat is a dense connection of sensors, speakers, microphones and camera, which aid in giving this dino-robot [...]
One of the reasons I went to CEATEC was to see Seikochan, a cute little robot that can ride a unicycle, bettering her cousin Seisakukun (aka Murataboy) who could ride the bicycle. I almost didn’t get to see her. Such was the popularity of Seikochan that I had to wait until the last performance just [...]
